Dress code for Cosplay Formal?

Hey, so I heard that there's a formal dance at con and that you can cosplay. My question is, would I be allowed to wear body paint? I have matching arm socks and tights, so it would only be my face (and my neck and maybe a bit of my upper chest not covered by my arm socks) that's painted, but it would be completely covered in one solid color. It would also definitely be sealed so it doesn't rub off (though seeing as it would mainly be on my face I doubt that'd be a huge problem even if it wasn't). I'm hoping to use theatrical/grease paint so it doesn't come off easily anyways. My character (Ruby from SU) is all red and my friend (who's being Sapphire from SU) is just going without paint since they don't have any sort of arm socks and their paint would be water-based and sweat off easily, but I'd feel really weird going to the dance without my arm socks/tights and without face paint, so I'd really like to know. The only thing I saw in the requirements was that you had to dress at least semiformal, which would be no problem for me. Also, does it cost to get in and/or to take the dance class before the ball? And where is it usually held? Thanks!
