The Unofficial Events Page

ichiichobit
Hello all! Over the last 3 years I have noticed while attending conventions (Midwest in particular for this topic) allot of unofficial events go on at con! These unofficial events are fan based or attendee run, and do not appear in the official schedule of events or con booklet. If you would like to know what this years unofficial events are you can find them on this webpage I made up last year to help those looking for unofficial: Meetups Photoshoots Games/Giveaways So if you want to look for unofficial events or meetups for various fandoms I update this page anytime a new unofficial event is submitted to me. Have an unofficial event you are planning? Follow the instructions on the page to do so to have others know it is going on! http://amunofficialevents.webs.com/ **These unofficial events are not panels and are in no way affiliated with the official events.

I have updated the page. Please don't let your unofficial event get lost! Add it to this list for easy access to all

I have a question about this page. I was trying to get an official event submitted for a photoshoot in hopes that there would be a larger turnout, but the person I contacted about it hasn't answered my email. Is there any way I can submit an unofficial event but cancel it if I need to? Also, what happens if we have an unofficial event scheduled and an official event is scheduled at the same time/place?

Thanks for your question. You may schedule an unofficial event or meetup and choose to have it removed once the official schedule is released should you see they have one set up official. If an official one collides with an unofficial one the host of the unofficial one would be notified and asked to either: 1. Change the time/day of the unofficial one or 2. Have their unofficial one removed from the list. I highly encourage others to attend official events and meetups, but I also encourage fans to do unofficial ones if thats something they all want. Does that help answer your question?

Ah yes, thank you!

Actually I do have another question: Im not sure where the best place for my meetup would be, as I dont really have a clue as to what the turnout might be and I'm not too familiar with meeting spots except for the loading docks and tower overhang.

Well you could always go with a general meet up area (like announce everyone to gather at a set location) and then move where the group thinks would be best based on the size of your group or photography needs. As an example I had my unofficial Naruto meetup last year meet just outside the hyatts main doors (on the grass) and once we gave it a little time and were sure no one else was coming we arranged as a group to move.

Just make sure if its in front of the loading docks its not interfering with an official meetup.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
