Anime Con

What is to be expected of an Anime Con you mean to ask?
Not all conventions are the same, but for the most part expect lots of nice people who are all attending for the purpose of meeting friends, making new friends, and joining fellow 'nerds' of various fandoms for a weekend of bliss!
You can expect panels, which are essentially lectures or workshops where you can learn lots of new and interesting things.
You can expect big events like The Masquerade and Live Concerts, as well as with some conventions (AnimeCon.org included) who even provide some food for the weekend such as Ramen/Rice/Oatmeal.
You can expect to see cosplayers who walk around dressed as characters from their favorite Games/TV Shows/Animes and more!
If you are asking what to expect from a certain convention I would point you to YouTube, where you can watch others review said conventions or even watch videos that showcase the con itself!
If I can be of any help let me know! This will be my 4th year at Anime Midwest, and I have six other conventions I am attending this year alone. I also cosplay, as well as do various projects within the community. Feel free to contact me here or on facebook at facebook.com/happycosplayer

Hello Taka!
Glad to hear you will be giving Midwest a try this year! It's a billion times better than Acen for many reasons, but my honest #1 reason being the people who attend midwest are unlike the ones who attend Acen. Much nicer, and nobody is in such a rush like they are at Acen.
But I forget myself here...this was not my attempt to bring out the Acen Vs Midwest debate!
Will you be cosplaying? Do get excited! It will be here before you know it!

So far as I know only the Hyatt has a hotel block for this convention. However it is possible some of the other hotels may honor the rate the Hyatt is offering for the convention. Call and ask.
Personally, I prefer the Embassy out of all of the hotels so far. (I have stayed at the Hyatt, Embassy, and Crowne Plaza so far)

I love the dealer's room and artist's alley because I love to shop and talking to the vendors is always very interesting. I also love character ask panels because there's always something unique to them. It's always a good laugh and it always feels very genuine.

Basically, that's your first love in Anime, what series or character pulled you in to the whole scene.
For me it was the series 'Please Teacher' and the character Mizuho Kazami. I'd seen some Inuyasha and stuff of that nature, but the emotional intensity of the series and the way it was so different from anything in the American media landscape really was what got to me.
Been an otaku ever since! :)
What got all y'all into anime?
